The Genovese Family
One of the five main families of the Cosa Nostra operating in and around the New York City area the Genovese Family continues to operate despite the apparent loss of their boss Vincent Gigante in 2005.
Several capos have been accumulating support to step into the boss position. Up until recently it seemed a given that Nicodermo Lombardo would be the one to succeed Gigante’s position. Nicodermo had garnered a lot of support in the past several months taking on new territory. Some close to Nicodermo said his manner had changed radically in the last few months. Nicodermo was never known for his brilliance and was more of a thug when it came to the streets, but in the past few months Nicodermo seemed to be making critically important maneuvers in the ever shifting balance of power among the criminal underworld. Unfortunately Nicodermo’s bid was cut short by a pair of ambitious supernatural practitioners a Knight of the Cross and a Wizard who stormed into Nicodermo’s Staten Island home and cut him and his bodyguards down.
With Nicodermo’s death another capo is making a play for the seat, Anthony Genoa is young but has a long familial association with the Genovese. Genoa has earned the support of many, though some question the influence of a new adviser Amos Cain.
